Chapter 2, Signal Acquisition and Tracking

By Paul Blunt

This chapter provides a brief overview of how the signals transmitted from GNSS satellites are turned into measurements. The topics covered include: basic and novel acquisition and tracking techniques for traditional (FSK) and new (BOC) GNSS signals. The software receiver discussed in Chapter 5 can be used to demonstrate many of the basic methods of GNSS receiver acquisition and tracking.
